What 2020 taught us!

Congratulations!! We've survived 2020!.

For the better or the worse, the year has changed us. And now looking back, we can see that the lesson we've
learned, about family, health, work, resilience, community and humanity, were valuable and we're not going to forget it ever.

Reminding 2020, the very first thing came to mind, is of course, Noble Corona Virus!
When was the last time, we felt so connected with the rest of the world. For once, the world is thinking the same thoughts, sharing the same fear, fighting the same enemy.
Thinking about the humans before this pandemic, everything was well but, we were so uncaring about our environment, recklessly looting from the Earth that nurtured us, ungrateful for the love that surrounded us, isolating ourselves from fellow humans, and suddenly a virus (if looking for the positive side only) came to make us realize that this Earth is not our( human) property but our home, we need to take care of it, as well as others, as we are living in symbiotic relationship.
And now, the Earth heals herself, as pollution lessens, birds tweet to their heart's content in a newly clear blue sky, animals reclaim their land as we were locked away.

There has to be some meaning to all this, and we must understand the lessons this pandemic is teaching us if we are to avoid similar debacles in the future.

Second thing, what seems important to me, what 2020 taught us is adaptibility.
Adaptation to adjust in new condition, in quarantine.

Spending most of the time indoors has increased the time you spend with our family members. This has reinstated the fact that it is only your family which is beside you through thick and thin. You have got once in a lifetime opportunity to spend so many days altogether with your family, and it is better to not waste them.

Being quarantined has given you more ‘me time’ and has changed the relationship you have with your own self. It has taught you how to be comfortable in your own skin and how to love yourself more. As your social interaction is limited, it is you and only you who will have to keep yourself busy and maintain your sanity through the lockdown.

Lockdown gave us a chance to look through our physical as well as mental health. People used to practice yoga, meditation, asanas together with their families, this added to the positive aspects.

The most essential of all, being in a lockdown made us realize the importance of the freedom we all had. It will make us realize the importance of a healthy body and will fill us with a feeling of gratitude towards God, towards our government, towards our doctors and towards everyone who is working day and night for a better and healthy India, better to say world.

We learned to adapt our mind in new condition, though it was not easy, but we did! We learned to adapt ourselves to new online education system, we learned to adapt ourselves to new working skills, new health caring systems, new safety measures and many more new things, sounds great, we did many things firstly in our whole life time. Many started new relationships, many had breakups, but we survived it, that matters at the end!
The year 2020 has taught me to be more patient and compassionate with myself and others. It has taught me that uncomfortable conversations are necessary to advance our understanding of one another. It has taught me to focus and enjoy the little things in life that make us smile and laugh. It has taught me that even as an introvert, I am still human, and humans need social connection.
I learned that you can actually be “together” while being apart. Nothing will ever replace in-person, face-to-face interactions (or hugs!), and I continue to miss those dearly.  But thanks to all social platforms!
On a lighter note, this pandemic sure has brought out our interests – we’ve seen chefs, artists, dancers and writers who are actually doctors, engineers and corporates by profession. Looks like we have found what we really like to do… At the end of the day, all that matters is what you like to do and your happiness while doing what you like!!!
